The Ryerson Index is an index to death and death-related notices in contemporary Australian newspapers.
It exists because the publicly-available BDM indexes in Australia do not give access to death entries occurring in recent years (the definition of "recent" varies between states.)
The Index is being added to continually, at the rate of over 1,600 entries per day. The website is generally updated weekly. As at June 2011, it contains over 3 million entries.
The index is owned and managed by Ryerson Index Inc, a not-for-profit organisation incorporated in NSW, Australia.
The Ryerson Index can be found at http://www.ryersonindex.org.
