Nova Scotia, Yarmouth County research

There are three major repositories for genealogical research within Yarmouth County. They have helpful staff and volunteers and useful items for sale for your genealogy library. Click on the titles for links to their web sites for hours operation.

1) Argyle Township Court House and Archives. The best collection of microfilms in the County including probate, deeds, and census. All federal census film reels 1871-1901) for all of Nova Scotia are available.

2) Acadian Museum & Archives (Musée Acadian & Archives). This should be your first stop in Yarmouth County for Acadian research.

3) Yarmouth County Museum and Archives. The finest collection of 19th and 20th century Yarmouth area newspapers and a great collection of school records.
