Board for Certification of Genealogists

Genealogists certified by the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG) must renew their certification every five years, through a renewal examination process.

The three categories of certification are:

• CG^SM — Certified Genealogist
• CGL^SM — Certified Genealogical Lecturer
• CGI^SM — Certified Genealogical Instructor
